Mark Cuban Defends Rupert Murdoch On Blocking Google
Mark Cuban is being, well, Mark Cuban as the Dallas Mavericks owner rushes to defend fellow mogul Robert Murdoch’s and his proposal to ban Google from indexing Newscorp sites.
Murdoch who owns a bunch of media properties inlduing Sky News, the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and the Daily Telegraph has been on a well publisized rant against Google Indexing.
“I think we will [remove our websites from Google’s search index] but that’s when we start charging,” he said.

Now, Cuban is jumping into the fray, arguing that “real time” search is where news value lies therefore Google is not as relevant.
TWITTER IS SURPASSING GOOGLE as a destination for finding information on breaking and recent news of all types. Whats more, TWITTER POSSES NO THREAT to any destination news site. 140 characters does not a story make. Find it on twitter, link to a story on say, FoxNews and everyone is happy. The same concept applies to Facebook Links

If it matters to me, chances are very good its in one of the twitter feeds I follow.
Having to search for and find news in search engines is so 2008.

So, are Rupert Murdoch and Makr Cuban right, is “Google so 2008?”
